Your shave begins by pulling the knife on a strap. After you have generously coated your face with shaving cream or shaving oil, you grab the knife so that the open handle points away from you. With your free hand, stretch your facial skin to form as straight a surface as possible. Set the knife at about a 30° angle and gently scrape your beard. First with the line, then across and finally against the direction of growth.
Care
Most razors are made of carbon steel. To avoid stains on it, rinse your knife with warm water after shaving. Now dab it dry with a cloth without touching the edge and store it open in a dry place. Between two applications should be at least 48 hours, so the stressed cutting burr can straighten up by itself. If you do not use your knife for a longer period of time, coat it with an acid-free maintenance oil. You can find more information here.
