As a matter of principle, we do not recommend cleaning our cutlery in the dishwasher in order to prevent premature wear (due to the deposition of foreign bodies and damage to the blade, among other things) caused by the cleaning agents used. Instead, we recommend cleaning by hand under lukewarm water and using a mild dishwashing detergent. A standard household dishcloth or soft sponge is particularly suitable for removing more stubborn food residues. After cleaning, the cut ware should be dried immediately - here, too, a standard household drying cloth is sufficient.
In particular, we would like to recommend the care of our cutlery with wooden handles. Here, it is important to ensure that the knife handles do not come into contact with water to prevent the wood from drying out. Since the woods we use are European species, which are not water resistant, when washing the knife you should make sure to dry the blades immediately so that no moisture can transfer to the wooden handle. By regularly oiling the wood with oil (e.g. linseed oil or other wood care oils) or wax (e.g. beeswax), you can increase the protection of the wood from fading and ensure a long-lasting shine and rich colors of the knife handle.
